Mexican Illegal Immigrant Dies In Border Patrol Detention Center

MCALLEN, Texas — Federal authorities continue to investigate the apparent suicide of an illegal immigrant that was being housed at a U.S. Border Patrol processing center in this border city.

Shortly before noon, agents found a 54-year-old Mexican national unresponsive and began administering CPR , U.S. Border Patrol spokesman Omar Zamora in a prepared statement sent to Breitbart Texas.

“Medically trained staff at the processing facility assisted with CPR until local EMS arrived on scene,” the statement shows. “The man was transported to a local hospital where he later expired.”

On Friday afternoon, FBI agents along with Customs and Border Protection Office of Inspector General and the U.S. Border Patrol Internal Affairs division began investigating the death of the Mexican national that was being housed at the facility, FBI spokeswoman Michelle Lee told Breitbart Texas.

Details of the man’s death were not released, however sources close to the case point to an apparent hanging by the man.

The border patrols station in this border city was at the epicenter of an immigration crisis that overwhelmed the housing facilities as hundreds of immigrants from countries other than Mexico entered the country through South Texas.
