Texas Sheriff's Deputy Does Not Have Ebola

HOUSTON, Texas — Michael West Monning, a Dallas County Sheriff’s Deputy who was admitted to the hospital on Wednesday with Ebola symptoms, does not have the disease. On Thursday afternoon the Texas Department of State Health Services said in a statement, “The Texas Department of State Health Services has completed testing of the specimen submitted today by Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. The result is negative for Ebola.”

Monnig walked into a CareNow clinic in Frisco, Texas on Wednesday.

Monnig was one of the responding officers to the apartment of Thomas Eric Duncan, the Liberian man who died from Ebola on Wednesday. When Monnig entered the apartment, Duncan had already been admitted to the hospital.
