HOUSTON, Texas — An event billed as an “anti-police protest” in Houston, Texas planned by a group calling themselves “the voice of the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA” was a complete dud New Year’s Eve night. The protestors carried armloads of printed material but only Houston Police Officers and a few members of the press were anywhere near the downtown Market Square for the protest.

Four demonstrators gave Breitbart Texas a flyer from www.RevCom.US saying “business as usual must not be allowed to go down because business as usual in Amerikkka includes wanton police murder of Black people.”

The event was one of a number of protests planned in major cities throughout the nation for New Year’s Eve night. Breitbart had alerted readers about the invitation for protestors to “Rock in the New Year with Resistance.” Announcements appeared from Carl Dix on www.stopmassincarceration.net. Dix is a founding member and a representative of the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA.

Protesters had made threats for New Year’s Eve as reported by the Gateway Pundit and Breitbart News. One Twitter user declared: “F*ck 12 and u. PICK A sidE or die with em. #Ferguson #VonderritMyers Shawtown 211MOB New Years Eve Massacre Kill A Pig Night 12/31/2014.″

The announcement for the event asked people to “Say in a loud, clear voice – NO NEW YEAR UNDER THIS OLD SYSTEM! And – WE CAN’T BREATHE! Bring your whistles and blow them loudly. Bring your signs and banners.”

The four protestors who were wearing paint masks inscribed with “I Can’t Breathe” seemed reluctant to show their faces and hid behind protest placards.

Breitbart Texas’ Bob Price asked one of the protestors who had been meekly shouting “Hands-Up, Don’t Shoot” whether she knew that Michael Brown did not actually have his hands up or say that. She appeared puzzled and replied “You have to read our flyer.”

Events in New York, San Antonio, St. Louis, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Detroit, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, San Francisco, Cleveland, Boston, Kalamazoo, Albuquerque, Boise, New Haven, Seattle, Silver Springs, Maryland, and Wailuku, Hawaii, apparently were also ineffective at shutting down New Year’s Eve celebrations.

Breitbart News reported that the protest in New York, although attended by more protestors, was a feeble and ineffective attempt to disrupt New Year’s festivities on Times Square. New York police officers passed out flyers telling marchers that they must walk on the sidewalk and not go into the street and block vehicle traffic. Protestors were diverted by officers as they approached 33rd Street in Herald Square. The small group found themselves stuck at a dead-end on the corner of 38th and Broadway and were engulfed by the huge crowd of New Year’s Eve revelers.

NBC News also reported that the “Revolution” intended to disrupt New Year’s Eve celebrations and business earnings fizzled. Demonstrators associated with a group calling itself “Ferguson Action” gathered earlier Wednesday at police headquarters in St. Louis. NBC News reported that events organized under the Twitter hashtag #BlackLivesMatter, had 75-100 protestors in St. Louis, New York, San Francisco, and Boston.

Hours before the planned protest, Breitbart Texas talked to Mike Shapiro, owner of the Char Bar on Houston’s Market Square. Shapiro, whose family has owned the popular downtown bar since 1979, proclaimed “I’m not going anywhere. You kidding!? New Year’s Eve?!” The Char Bar, located just down the street from the Harris County courthouse complex is a popular hangout for lawyers. The building is the third oldest in the city.
