MCALLEN, Texas — After a brief firefight, the Mexican army rescued a kidnapped woman from a group of cartel gunmen near the Texas border.

The shootout took place in the Mexican border city of Reynosa where a convoy of Mexican soldiers had been conducting routine patrols in the Los Almendros neighborhood. A group of cartel gunmen started firing at the convoy to keep them away, information provided to Breitbart Texas by the Tamaulipas Government revealed.

The Mexican soldiers fought off the attack. The gunmen were forced to flee the area, leaving behind a woman who had been taken by force by the gunmen. The soldiers turned the woman over to the Tamaulipas Attorney General’s Office for further investigation and seized various firearms and a truck that the gunmen had used.
