REYNOSA, Tamaulipas—A suspected human smuggler faces charges in Mexico in connection to transporting a Ukrainian man and six other illegal immigrants toward the border.

The arrest was made earlier this week when Mexican authorities with the Fuerza Tamaulipas task force pulled over the suspected smuggler in an area known as the “Y” which connects the border city of Reynosa with San Fernando, information provided to Breitbart Texas by Mexico’s Attorney General’s Office (PGR) revealed.

The area of the traffic stop is about a 40 minute drive from the Rio Grande and it is the main highway connecting the Tamaulipas border with the rest of the state.

As Breitbart Texas previously reported, the Gulf Cartel has shifted some of its resources to control the profitable human smuggling routes along the Rio Grande on their area of the Texas-Mexico border, which spans from west of Laredo to the Gulf Of Mexico. Last year in a matter of months the Gulf Cartel made $38 million from human smuggling alone.

The officers observed that the driver of a Ford F-250 with Tamaulipas license plates was coming out of a dirt road that leads to the San Antonio rural community and pulled him over as the truck pulled into the highway.

“Inside the vehicle seven they people without legal documents to be in the country, including a foreigner who came originally from Ukraine,” the information in Spanish provided by the PGR revealed.

The suspected human smuggler was turned over to the PGR for prosecution while the illegal immigrants were turned over to Mexico’s National Migration Institute for deportation.
