A 25-year-old woman sits in a Dallas County jail for allegedly killing her newborn baby. She has been charged with capital murder.

The Dallas-Fort Worth CBS affiliate reports that law enforcement officers in Addison, Texas, arrested Luz Aurora Granados-Reyes on Tuesday.

On Sunday, paramedics were called to a hotel to assist the woman after she had given birth in the employee locker room. The baby girl was found unresponsive and they performed CPR. They were not able to save the newborn.

Law enforcement officials were called and arrested the woman after there was an investigation.

Before she was taken to jail, Granados-Reyes was taken to a hospital. An autopsy is being performed on the newborn.

The bond for the young woman has been set at $500,000.

Granados-Reyes has been charged with capital murder because it involves a child under ten years of age. The offense is a capital felony punishable by a mandatory sentence of life in prison if the prosecution does not seek the death penalty.
