MCALLEN, Texas — A previously deported member of the fearsome Salvadoran MS-13  prison gang has been arrested near this the Texas border with Mexico. The previously deported MS-13 gang member known as “El Diablo” had been convicted of stabbing an innocent man at a restaurant in Chesterfield Virginia and leaving him for dead. The case was considered at the time by Virginia authorities to be one of the most violent acts by the MS-13 in the area.

U.S Border Patrol agents arrested 36-year-old Gilberto Ernesto “El Diablo” Gutierrez this week in the border city of Hidalgo, court records obtained by Breitbart Texas revealed.

When authorities checked his information they found out that Gutierrez had been deported on October 11, 2013 through New Orleans, Louisiana. The criminal complaint filed against him revealed that on September 14, 2009, Gutierrez was convicted one count of malicious assault causing severe injury and one count of gang-related criminal activity.

According to the criminal information on file, Gutierrez was sentenced to 20-years in prison on one charge and 15-years in prison on a second charge that were set to run concurrent. It remains unclear if the sentence was probated or  lowered since he was deported approximately four years after his conviction and sentence.

According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Gutierrez was one of four MS-13 gang members who pleaded guilty to the brutal stabbing of the man who they mistakenly took to be part of a rival gang.

The men initially called the victim identified only as RH to go outside of the restaurant bar and after the man refused they followed him to the bathroom where they stabbed him repeatedly and left him for dead.

The Mara Salvatrucha or MS-13 is considered to be one of the most dangerous criminal organizations in America. As previously reported by Breitbart Texas, MS-13 and their rival Barrio 18 began in the streets of California and ended up spreading throughout Latin America, primarily in El Salvador where the gang is responsible for the raging violence in the area. Most recently El Salvador’s government labeled the two gangs as terrorist organizations.
