Texas highway signs around Dallas were apparently hacked by a Bernie Sanders supporter. One included the message – “Donald Trump is a … shape shifting lizard!!”

The new message on the sign appeared in Dallas, Texas, on Tuesday morning, reported Fox 4 in Dallas. The sign was located along Interstate 30 and Cockrell Hill Road.

A sign stating, “Bernie Sanders for president,” was also hacked less than two miles away.

Another on Westmoreland Road in Dallas quipped, “Work is canceled, go back home.”

Right before Memorial Day, on the weekend, another sign told those in Dallas to “Party hardy yall!”

The Dallas Fox affiliate reported that the Texas Department of Transportation said that the contractor who owns the signs took steps to secure the signs after the first one was hijacked. The contractor said that the hacker had to break the locks on the signs in order to program the message. The signs cannot be programmed remotely.

An official from the TxDOT was reported to say that two of the three signs were not being used at the time their locks were broken in order to access the signs.

Commuters returning to work after the Memorial Day holiday had an opportunity to take photos and share them.

Two of the signs that had been hacked had their new messages removed by 6:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. The message about presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump was turned off about an hour later.

Tampering with a highway warning sign is a misdemeanor in Texas. The punishment can include up to a $1,000 fine per sign and up to two years in jail.
