U.S. Border Patrol agents in Falfurrias apprehended two previously deported sex offenders after they had illegally re-entered the United States. The sex offenders were captured approximately 80 miles north of the Texas/Mexico border.

The agents from the Rio Grande Valley sector working at the Falfurrias checkpoint in Brooks County discovered an adult male from Mexico near the small town of Encino. The area is a known hotspot for illegal aliens to be dropped off to make their way around the Falfurrias checkpoint before proceeding northward to Houston and their eventual destination.

Agents conducted a background check on the man and discovered he had previously been arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department on a charge of rape, information provided to Breitbart Texas by the U.S. Border Patrol revealed. He was eventually convicted on the charge and deported from the United States following his prison term.

Last week, agents in McAllen, Texas, apprehended a Honduran man near the town of Hidalgo. That man was also a previously convicted sex offender, having been arrested by the Plainfield Police Department in New Jersey in 2009. He was charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault.”

“Our Border Patrol agents continue to remain vigilant in their efforts to protect this nation from all threats, especially predators and convicted criminals attempting to illegally enter the country,” Rio Grande Valley Sector Chief Patrol Agent Manuel Padilla Jr. said in a written statement “Because of the agents’ hard work, these dangerous criminals were unable to make it into our communities.”

Both of the previously deported sex offenders were arrested and placed into custody where they await possible charges of felony re-entry after being deported as a registered sex offender.

The arrest of the previously deported aliens underscores the need to secure the southern border with Mexico to keep criminals of this type from re-entering the country at will.
