BATON ROUGE, Louisiana – A coalition of minority and gender studies organizations at Louisiana State University (LSU) are demanding that the university’s Dean of Students reprimand a campus fraternity for mocking Colin Kaepernick’s decision to not stand during the “Star Spangled Banner.”

The Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity (DKE) made headlines on LSU’s campus when they posted a banner to their frat house which read “Oh say can you see Kaepernick sits when he pees,” mocking the NFL player.

Now, the Coalition of LSU Student Organizations Committed to Community, an organization of gender studies and minority groups on campus, are saying the banner is creating a “hostile campus environment.”

“This is not the first time this fraternity has posted inflammatory banners,” the organization wrote to the campus’ newspaper, the LSU Reveille. “DKE has repeatedly displayed language and imagery on campus that many in the LSU community consider highly offensive, racist, misogynistic, and homophobic.”

“While we acknowledge their first amendment right to free speech even when that speech expresses unpopular ideas, we believe it’s highly important to formally state that such behavior fosters a hostile campus environment for a large number of students,” the organization continued.

The organization is requesting the LSU Office of Diversity, Dean of Students, and Greek Life “grant a meeting with students affected by these actions,” demanding banners on campus now be approved by the administration.

“We are also open to conversations with these offices about other ways to ameliorate the hostile environment that DKE and similar organizations have created,” the organization wrote.

DKE mocked Kaerpernick after he refused to stand for the National Anthem, saying “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses Black people and people of color,” as Breitbart News reported at the time.

Breitbart News’ Milo Yiannopoulos is set to visit the LSU on his college tour, the Dangerous Faggot Tour, next week.
