CIUDAD VICTORIA, Tamaulipas — Mexican authorities have arrested one of their own in connection with the murder of a businessman. The store employees beat the cop turned robber and left him knocked out for authorities.

The robbery took place this week in the Tamaulipas capital of Ciudad Victoria when Juan Garcia Medina, along with another man, went to rob a local store, information provided to Breitbart Texas by the Tamaulipas government revealed.

During the robbery, the manager and other employees tried to fight off the attack using clubs and pipes sold at the store. The store manager was fatally injured with two shots from a 9mm pistol that one of the two robbers allegedly carried.

A citizen journalist recorded the moments after the robbery when a cop at the scene held Garcia Medina while store employees looked after the fatally wounded manager. The deceased, who has since been identified as Felipe de Jesus Herrera Ruedas, died at a local hospital, government officials confirmed. The victim is the son of the business owner.

One of the robbers managed to flee, however Garcia Medina collapsed outside of the store, apparently left unconscious by the severe beating he received from the employees. Tamaulipas government officials have since confirmed that Garcia Medina is a current member of the Accredited Tamaulipas State Police. He had been employed since 2001.

According to the Tamaulipas government, the new administration that took office 40 days ago has been carrying out an internal investigation to clean up the force.
