U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Del Rio Sector arrested a sex offender from Honduras who was deported less than five months prior. The man was the third Honduran sex offender-deportee arrested in the sector in one week.

Agents assigned to the Uvalde Station arrested Azaraias Alvarado-Almendarez, 32, along with two other illegal aliens on December 11 about 60 miles north of the Texas-Mexico border. A records check revealed that Alvarado-Almendarez, a Honduran national, had previously served prison time in Florida for sexual assault of a child, according to information obtained from Del Rio Sector Public Information Officer Dennis Smith by Breitbart Texas.

A court in Bradenton, Florida convicted the Honduran illegal alien in March 2009 for sexually assaulting a child. He was sentenced to 10 years in a state prison. After being released early, Florida law enforcement officials turned Alvarado-Almendarez over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Enforcement Removal Operation (ERO) agents for deportation proceedings. Under the Priority Enforcement Program, ERO agents deported him to his home country of Honduras on July 15, 2016.

It only took the convicted sex offender five months to cross Mexico and illegally re-enter the United States.

“Agents thwarted the illegal entry of another convicted sex offender,” Del Rio Sector Acting Chief Patrol Agent Matthew J. Hudak said in a written statement. “This significant arrest is the result of the work done by our agents, and another example of the important role we play in national security.”

Border Patrol agents in the Del Rio Sector arrested two other Honduran sex offenders this same week. Just four days before this latest arrest, agents assigned to the Brackettville Station arrested Oscar Omar Rivas-Izaguirre, 24, after he illegally crossed the border from Mexico, Breitbart Texas reported. A background investigation by Border Patrol agents revealed the Honduran national was previously convicted in the United States on a sexual offense involving a minor. He was convicted in October 2013 on a charge of child-fondling, officials stated. ERO agents deported Rivas-Izaguirre on September 28, 2015 to Honduras.

Just three days before that, agents assigned to the Eagle Pass station arrested Oswaldo Bienvenido Galo-Garcia, 57, after he illegally crossed the border. While processing the illegal alien, agents used biometric identification and discovered Galo-Garcia had previously been deported after a June 1993 sexual offense involving a minor.

All three of the previously deported Hondurans face possible prosecution for illegal reentry after formal deportation as a sex offender.
