A teenage mother is in a Texas jail after she allegedly killed her newborn infant daughter. The mother allegedly stabbed her daughter in the neck and body before leaving her in the garage to die.

El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies received a call on February 9 from the far eastern part of the county. When deputies arrived they discovered a newborn little girl that had apparently been stabbed to death. The deputies took 17-year-old Erica Gomez into custody, according to a report from KFOX14 in El Paso.

El Paso County jail records obtained by Breitbart Texas show the woman also goes by the alias Erica Rubio.

Investigators determined that Gomez gave birth to the baby girl inside her home. She then allegedly stabbed the infant in the neck and body before wrapping her in a robe and placing her in a storage building for 12 hours, officials stated.

Deputies responded to the residence after receiving a request for a welfare check regarding an infant, KVIA ABC7 reported.

The teenage mother is now in the El Paso County jail on charges of Capital Murder. A Texas district court judge set her bond at $800,000.
