PIEDRAS NEGRAS, Coahuila — A former state police officer, recently outed as having taken bribes from cartel linked human smugglers, claims police officers kidnapped her and tortured her before leaving her for dead near this border city.
Deyanira Tomayo, a former state police officer in Coahuila, is expected to go before the attorney generals office to provide her statements in relation to her alleged kidnapping and torture, El Siglo de Coahuila reported. Multiple outlets reported that the woman had fled to the U.S. to request asylum. Those reports have been proven to be incorrect.
Last week, Tomayo had been working at a private security company in Ciudad Acuña, just south of Del Rio, Texas, where she claimed that three men riding in two vehicles blocked her off and took her to a secluded area where they beat her and left her for dead. It remains unclear if the criminal organization that Tomayo had allegedly worked for may have been behind her kidnapping.
According to her statements to El Siglo de Torreon, Tomayo claimed that the men asked her about the recent murder of congressional candidate and former Piedras Negras Mayor Fernando Puron. What the reporting on Tomayo does not mention is her ties to cartel-connected human smuggling groups from whom she allegedly took money.
Breitbart Texas reported on Tomayo in February when Marco Antonio “El Lagrima” Martinez de la Cruz, a convicted cartel-linked human smuggler outed her as the police commander that he paid a monthly protection fee to in order to operate freely around the border region near Piedras Negras. The information was revealed during a kidnapping trial, where human smugglers were convicted for kidnapping and holding migrants for ransom.
