CNN Co-Founder: 'Zucker's Head May Already Be On the Chopping Block'

Writing for the Huffington Post, Reese Schonfeld, a co-founcer and former CEO of CNN, suggests that current CNN chief Jeff Zucker’s head “may already be on the chopping block.” Schonfeld is basing this on Zucker’s failure to turn the cable news network around, even though he has been in charge for a year and a half.

CNN’s CEO, Jeff Zucker, was appointed by [Time Warner CEO Jeffrey] Bewkes a year and a half ago. His presence has not improved CNN ratings. He was just finishing up as the Executive Producer of the failing Katie Couric show and previously had been ousted as the NBC boss when Comcast acquired the network. All too often, MBAs hire people who previously held important jobs but failed at them. They then of course blame the failure on the guy they hired and Zucker’s head may already be on the chopping block.

Zucker’s term at CNN has been marked by embarrassing scandals, embarrassing ratings, and a loss of reputation throughout the media world. The one-time “most trusted name in news” is now a low-rated laughingstock.
