Senate Witness Snaps In Gun Hearing: 'It Doesn't Matter' We Don't Enforce Current Laws!

Chief of the Milwaukee Police Department Edward Flynn had a heated exchange with Senator Lindsey Graham today during the Judiciary Committee meeting on reinstituting an assault weapons ban. Graham brought up that although tens of thousands of gun purchasers fail a background check every year, less than 50 are prosecuted for trying to illegally acquire a gun.

Graham argued that if the States and the Federal Government aren’t enforcing existing laws, adding new laws will not prevent the crime. After multiple exchanges Flynn finally snapped at Senator Graham saying that it “doesn’t matter” how few people are charged with trying to obtain a gun illegally. The Police Chief said that he isn’t going after “paperwork prosecutions” instead of criminals that use guns to break the law.
