Report: Number of Vets on Food Stamps Continues to Grow

FOX NEWS INSIDER: Jennifer Griffin reported on some startling figures this afternoon on “The Real Story,” highlighting a recent study that shows about 900,000 U.S. veterans, including 5,000 on active duty, receive food stamps. Nearly 340,000 receive housing assistance, according to the nonprofit Center for Budget and Policy Priorities. She said groups like Truckin’ For Troops and Operation Homefront, which rely on donations, are being called upon by more and more veterans to help fill the void. The numbers are expected to only go higher as the government prepares to cut military pensions in the new budget.
