American Legion Executive Director Peter Gaytan strongly criticized House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) for her defense of Veterans Affairs Secretary Eric Shinseki. Earlier today, Pelosi defended Shinkseki by stating that the problems at the VA existed ten years ago, well before he was in charge of the VA.
Gaytan said, “It doesn’t matter what happened 10 years ago,” and that “it would be another fault of ours” if the current problems at the VA were blamed on the past. Gaytan also pled with President Barack Obama to reform the VA in order to “tell [members of the military] that when they come back they will receive the thanks of a grateful nation.”
