Ledge 1,353 Feet in the Air Cracks Underneath Tourists

The protective coating on the glass on a ledge 1,353 feet above the ground at the Willis Tower in Chicago cracked last night when a group of tourists were on it. WGN reports that Alejandro Garibay, one of the tourists on The Ledge when it cracked, said it was “frightening and unexpected.” A spokesman with the tower stated that The Ledge itself didn’t crack, but a protective coating that “does not affect the structural integrity” did. The skydeck The Ledge is on will remain open, but The Ledge will be closed for repairs for at least a day.
