Putin: Russia May Be 'Forced to Protect Its Economy'

Friday while discussing his meetings with President Barack Obama and Ukraine President Petro Poroshenko after the ceremony commemorating the 70th anniversary of the invasion of Normandy, Russian President Vladimir Putin voiced his concern about Poroshenko’s promise to sign Ukraine’s free trade agreement with the European Union immediately after inauguration on June 7.

Putin threatened if Poroshenko signed the agreement Russia would have to “immediately” take measures “protect” their economy by changing their stasis of trade with Ukraine and adding heavy tariffs to imports meaning their “goods would not to be competitive even in Russia” Putin added Russia would also have to think about how they would “regulate” the 5 to 6 million Ukrainians who work in Russia…
