White House: Hobby Lobby Ruling 'Jeopardizes' Women's Health

Monday at the daily press briefing White House press secretary Josh Earnest reacted to the Supreme Court’s Hobby Lobby 5-4 ruling against forcing privately held companies to offer their employees birth control as part of the Affordable Care Act mandate by claiming  “Today’s decision jeopardizes the health of women employed by these companies.”

“We believe the owners of for-profit companies should not be allowed to assert their personal religious views to deny their employees federally mandated benefits,” Earnest said.

He added the administration will “respect” the high court’s ruling but “will continue to look for ways to improve American’s health by helping women have more, not less, say over the personal health decisions that affect them and their families.”
