Perry: 'I Don't Know' Whether Obama Heard Me

On the Wednesday broadcast of Fox News Channel’s “Hannity,” Gov. Rick Perry (R-TX) stated, “I don’t know whether [Obama] heard what I said” in his discussion on the meeting between him and President Obama regarding the crisis on the southern border today.  Perry did say “the president was engaged as I was discussing with him,” but added that “a leader acts, and what I haven’t seen out of this president are actions that make me think he understands what’s going on.”

He also reported that the state of Texas has spent “over a half a billion dollars since 2005” securing the border, and repeatedly urged the president to send the National Guard to the border. Perry additionally stressed his desire that the president visit the southern border, saying “I think if the president would see [the situation on the border] with his own eyes, and he would act on it…that’s what leadership is.”
