Krauthammer: Obama Amnesty Action 'a Serious Trespass on the Constitution'

On Thursday’s “Special Report” on the Fox News Channel, Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer reiterated his argument that should President Barack Obama pursue unilateral amnesty for illegal immigration, it would be unconstitutional and would therefore be an impeachable act.

“It should [spur on more calls for impeachment],” Krauthammer said. “Because the president himself has said often and publicly and on camera that he isn’t allowed to do precisely what he’s said he’s ready to do in September. He said it’s against — look, he said it is unconstitutional. And in one of his ringing denunciations of doing what he said he’s going to do, he said, after all, we are a nation of laws. So taking him at his word, this is a serious trespass on the Constitution. I wouldn’t impeach simply because it’s political suicide. But in principle, it would be an impeachable offense.”
