Elizabeth Warren: Race a Core Factor in Michael Brown Shooting

Wednesday in an interview with Yahoo Global News Anchor Katie Couric, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) accused Ferguson police officer Darren Wilson of being motivated by race in the shooting of Michael Brown last month.

When Couric asked about the racial aspect of the case Warren said, “That is a core part of what happened,” adding, “Its why people ask once again, what does it mean to be African-American, unarmed, and to be in a circumstance where you end up shot on the streets.”

Warren expanded her charge that racism played a role to the entire Ferguson police force.

“Race is clearly a part of what we worry about in the initial action and very much what we worry about in the response when people took to the streets to ask questions,” Warren said.
