Thursday on MSNBC’s “José Díaz-Balart Live,” Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) answered whether America should commit to sending troops into Iraq and Syria to fight ISIS with a dose of reality by saying “We are already at war with ISIS. We already have American troops on the ground.”
Johnson said President Barack Obama’s “strategic blunder” of not leaving a stabilizing force in Iraq has “allowed ISIS to rise from the ashes from al Qaeda in Iraq.”
Johnson said that on 9/11, “We were asleep at the switch. We refuse to acknowledge reality. I think this administration has been reality denying for quite some time now. Now is the time to recognize it and start dealing with it effectively.”
When Díaz-Balart asked if we should send troops to battle ISIS, Johnson said, “First of all, we are already at war with ISIS. We already have American troops on the ground.”
