WH: Countries Threatened By Islamic Extremists Should Fight Ground War

Monday at the press briefing, White House press secretary Josh Earnest tried several times to explain to frustrated reporters why President Barack Obama is unwilling to fight ISIS is Syria opting instead to confront ISIS with an air campaign in Iraq and “no American troops on the ground.”

Earnest explained Obama’s plan is the countries in the collation that are “actually are threatened by Sunni extremist” should be fighting the ground war.

When reporters continued to ask since ISIS was a threat, wouldn’t we have to confront them in Syria, Earnest insisted that “this is their country” and added, “This is not a fight the United States can take on for them.”

“They have a larger stake in this then even the United States does,” he said. “That so many of these countries actually are threatened by Sunni extremists that are wreaking havoc. In some cases on their border or very near it so they have an interest in this broader effort to degrade and ultimately destroy ISIL.”
