Chris Wallace to WH: 'How Could Obama Have Been So Wrong' About Defeating al Qaeda?

On “Fox News Sunday,” host Chris Wallace grilled Deputy National Security Advisor Tony Blinken about President Barack Obama’s continued insistence that core al Qaeda has been decimated.

Wallace first asked about President Obama’s 2013 claim that he was ending a decade of war, saying, “How could the President have been so wrong?”

Blinken insisted, “The president was exactly right. What we’re doing is totally different than the last decade. We’re not sending hundreds of thousands of American troops back into Iraq or Afghanistan or anywhere else.”

Wallace asked that, if the terror group is decimated, why the U.S. had to bomb al Qaeda affiliates in Syria this week. Blinken siad it is because President Obama has been “so successful” going after them in Iraq and Afghanistan.
