Maine Gov: People Are Angry, We Are Trying to Protect This Nurse and She's Not Being Smart

Thursday after explaining his negotiations with nurse Kaci Hickox have failed, Gov. Paul LePage (R-ME) said he would use the “fullest extent” of the law against the nurse to enforce her home quarantine after returning from treating West Africa Ebola patients for her own safety because “her behavior is really riling a lot of people up.”

LePage’s said, “We can’t protect her when she does that. The reason there’s a police car there is to protect her, more than anybody. Because the last thing I want is for her to get hurt. But at the same token, her behavior is really riling a lot of people up. I can only do what I can do, and we’re trying to protect her, but she’s not acting as smart as she probably should.”
