McCaul: We’ll Work Out a Deal to Avoid DHS Shutdown

House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX) said that he and other Republicans would work out a deal to avoid shutting down the Department of Homeland Security when its funding expires in March on Wednesday’s “Situation Room” on CNN.

McCaul said “our goal is to keep the department open, but also, as I’ve said before, shut down the executive action,” then added “we want to stop this executive action, but I think responsible individuals like myself have no desire to shut down this department.”

When asked by anchor Wolf Blitzer if this meant “you’ll work out some deal to make sure the Department of Homeland Security stays in business,” McCaul responded “correct.”
