Dr. Christina Greer, a professor of Political Science at Fordham University said that the US is ” a patriarchal, white supremacist country” on Thursday’s “Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore” on Comedy Central.
In a discussion on black women being called “bossy” Greer remarked “the reason why bossy strikes a nerve with me, because as someone who has to advocate for herself constantly, right, in a patriarchal, white supremacist country, right? Slash, society, that’s one. And two, bossy is one of these words where if you’re educated, and you’re black and you’re articulate, and it’s one of those words that — it’s a backhanded — articulate’s a backhanded compliment.”
