George Will: ‘Orwellian’ Hillary ‘Deeply Sinister’

On this weekend’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday,” in discussing the growing scandal over former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton exclusively emailing all official State Department business using her private email account, Washington Post columnist George Will gave a scathing rebuke of Clinton.

Will said, “The Clintons come trailing clouds of entitlement and concealment, and legalistic reasoning. They are the kind of people who could find a loophole in a stop sign. Her obvious motive was to conceal. You conceal in order to control. And that’s what makes this literally, strictly speaking, or Orwellian. In George Orwell’s novel 1984 Oceania regime, the totalitarian regime had an axiom, ‘He who controls the past controls the future. And he who controls the present controls the past.’ This is a way of controlling what we will know about the history of our country and it is deeply sinister.”
