Levin: American People Being Ignored on Immigration

Talk radio host and author of “The Liberty Amendments,” Mark Levin argued that the government is ignoring the will of voters on the topic of immigration on Wednesday.

Levin, in reaction to a report in the Washington Examiner that “legal and illegal immigrants will hit a record high of 51 million in just eight years and eventually account for an astounding 82 percent of all population growth in America,” cited a 2012 Pew Research survey that found 69% of Americans believed “we should restrict and control people coming to live in our country more than we do now.”

Levin added, “now, does our government consult with us? No. Either party represent the American people? No.” He continued, citing another survey from Gallup that 60% of Americans dissatisfied with current immigration levels, and another from the Polling Company that 75% of respondents believe companies that have trouble attracting workers should raise wages as opposed to allowing more immigrants into the US (slide 18).

Levin concluded, “so, who represents you and me? Well, this is going to be a major issue, it’s going to be a major issue.”
