Johnson on Hillary Congressional Appearance: ‘A lot to Answer for Her Dereliction of Duty’

On Tuesday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) commented on reports that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has agreed she will testify before Congress’ Select Committee on Benghazi later this month.

According to the Wisconsin senator, Clinton has “an awful lot to explain” and he listed a number of questions he would like to have answered.

“Well, Secretary Clinton has an awful lot to explain,” Johnson said. “I always hear — even your opening said heated exchange. Not from my part, I was just asking pretty simple questions. Why didn’t you get on the phone and call the survivors? You would have found out immediately there was no protest that that attack didn’t spring out of some protest. You could have told the American people the truth and bottom line is now is the time to tell the America the truth. Why did she as head of the State Department — why did she not ramp up security in a very dangerous situation in Benghazi? You know, here were repeated requests. Those requests went unanswered and actually they ramped down security to comply with the narrative that all was well and their strategy was working. And nothing could be further from the truth. So Secretary Clinton has a lot to answer for her dereliction of duty that I believe that ended up resulting in the loss of four Americans’ lives.
