ESPN’s Whitlock: Tiger More Interesting Golfer Than Spieth Because He’s Black

During Monday’s “Pardon the Interruption” on ESPN, Jason Whitlock, filling in as co-host for Tony Kornheiser, reacted to Jordan Spieth winning the 2015 U.S. Open, by saying it is not all that interesting because Spieth looks like a golfer.

Whitlock also added that Tiger Woods was interesting because he’s black, but Spieth is not because the typical-looking golfer has no backstory and neglected mentioning that Spieth attributes his success to a special needs sister.

“If Jordan Spieth does this, I don’t know if it leads the nightly news,” Whitlock said. “I don’t know if he’s that interesting. Tiger Woods was interesting. Earl Woods made him interesting. Just being a black guy in golf made him different. Jordan Spieth, to me, looks like a golfer. There doesn’t seem to be that much interesting about his back story.”
