ACLU’s Wang: Media Storm Over SF’s Sanctuary City Law ‘Dangerous’

On Saturday’s “Melissa Harris-Perry” on MSNBC, director of American Civil Liberties Union Cecillia Wang reacted to the media’s treatment of San Francisco, as well as other cities, for being a sanctuary city.

Sanctuary cities are now under fire after Kate Steinle was shot dead on July 1, allegedly by Juan Francisco Lopez-Sanchez, a Mexican felon who was in the United States illegally.

Wang made it known that the media storm is driven by bad information, which has led to a danger to the public’s safety.

“The murder of Kathryn Steinle is a tragedy that all of us who live in San Francisco are grieving about but all of the media frenzy that’s been driven by false information has really led to an unfortunate and dangerous situation for public safety.”
