TX Gov Abbott: Trump’s Tone Wrong, Message Right

Monday on Newsmax TV’s “The Steve Malzberg Show,” Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) said Republican presidential candidate and billionaire business mogul Donald Trump’s recent comments on illegal  immigration struck the wrong tone on immigration, but had the right “emphasis” on Americans’ concerns.

When asked about Trump’s controversial comments, Abbott said, “Either all or almost all of the presidential candidates are talking about this very important issue about immigration and about the border. I think the tone of what Trump has said has not been the right tone. It would not be the tone that I would have adopted. But he is emphasizing what a lot of Americans are concerned about, and that the fact that we have broken immigration system and a porous border. People are tragically losing their lives and they shouldn’t be. Something needs to be done about it.”
