Thursday at the White House press briefing, press secretary Josh Earnest responded to Republican presidential candidate Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) saying the Iran nuclear deal makes President Barack Obama “the world’s leading financier of radical Islamic terrorism.”
“Cruz’s outrageous claim does not stand up to any factual scrutiny at all,” Earnest said.
Earnest explained because the other countries are no longer willing to continue with sanctions that means, “If Congress kills this deal, Iran is still getting sanctions relief.”
He added, “They certainly are interested in playing politics on this. We are focused on the substance. For that reason, Senator Cruz’s outrageous claim does not stand up to any factual scrutiny at all.”
