Contessa Brewer of CBSN, CBS News’ live streaming video news channel, reported the former secretary of the Nobel Peace Prize committee, from 1990-2015, Geir Lundestad, now says President Barack Obama’s 2009 prize was a “mistake.”
In his new book Geir Lundestad wrote, “No Nobel Peace Prize ever elicited more attention that the 2009 prize to Barack Obama. Even many of Obama’s supporters thought the prize was a mistake. In that sense the committee did not achieve what it hoped for.”
Lundestad told the Associated Press the Nobel committee had hoped giving the award to President Obama would strengthen him.
