According to a report from Fox16, some students at Arkansas Tech, a university in Russellville, AR, are upset with a fellow student for dressing up in what they deem an offensive costume for a Halloween costume party.
The photo shows a sorority member of Zeta Tau Alpha dressed up as popular rapper Lil Wayne. The Wednesday costume contest received attention all over campus because of the girl’s decision to paint herself in blackface.
“It’s blackface. It’s 2015. Like why? What were you thinking? Why do you think this is OK?” responded African-American Student Association President Hailey Robinson. “If you look at the historical reference to what they did it’s not a joking matter. And they took it as a game. I don’t take my black identity as a game.”
The university is still investigating the incident and the girl could be required to attend a diversity workshop.
