Jonathan Alter: ‘Demagoguery’ Against Minorities Is ‘Acceptable’ in the GOP

MSNBC analyst and Daily Beat columnist Jonathan Alter commented on GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump’s mocking a reporter on MSNBC Saturday, saying the “demagoguery” in the GOP against Mexicans, Muslims and all minorities is “acceptable” within the party.

“I think actually this might finally start to bring [Trump] down. It’s not going to collapse entirely, because there’s 15, 20, 25 percent of Republican voters who are going to vote for him regardless, but in terms of a ceiling on his supports, it’s one thing in the Republican Party to go after Mexicans, Muslims, you have a demagoguery in that party that’s acceptable when it comes to minorities.”
