Columnist Charles Krauthammer argued that keeping the air base in Bagram indefinitely is an admission “of the huge mistake in evacuating Iraq all at once” on Monday’s “Special Report” on the Fox News Channel.
Krauthammer said, [relevant remarks begin around 6:10] “The keeping up of the air base, [in Bagram] keeping it open, is an admission by the Obama administration of the huge mistake in evacuating Iraq all at once. We could have stayed behind with an air base or two, and that would have made a decisive difference in the rise of ISIS. I think Obama understands that was a terrible mistake he doesn’t want to repeat in Afghanistan.”
