A couple from California thought they were on a dream vacation to New York City, but they encountered a massive bedbug infestation under their mattress at the Astor on the Park Hotel on the in Manhattan, NY, per a report by WGNTV.
Elgin Ozlen’s mother paid for him and his girlfriend to take the trip to celebrate his birthday and ring in the new year. According to Ozlen, his first two rooms at the hotel were without heat, while the third room had electrical issues, as well as a bedbug infestation.
Because of the bedbugs, Ozlen and his girlfriend had to celebrate the new year in the hospital.
“We were expecting a vacation to remember the rest of our lives, and we will definitely remember it for the rest of our lives, but it won’t be a pleasant memory,” says Ozlen.
The hotel refunded Ozlen’s money and apologized for the nightmarish experience, but is yet to issue a public statement about the bedbug infestation.
