Division Three Football Star Stands Outside the Patriots’ Stadium Hoping for Tryout

Abiola Aborishade wants a chance at the NFL.

The former UMass-Dartmouth wide receiver has been standing outside the New England Patriots parking lot since April just hoping to get a tryout with the team, says a report by ABC7 Chicago.

Aborishade is there waiting each morning before the players and coaches arrive and at the end of the day when they leave, spending an average of seven hours a day standing outside with a sign that reads, “talented, hardworking athlete hoping for a chance.”

The 23-year-old Nigerian-born receiver played three years at UMass Dartmouth, where he holds the school’s single-season catch record by catching 84 passes his senior year.

“Football is football no matter what level you play,” Aborishade told reporters. “The speed does change, but understanding the game is definitely a big part of it.”

Some Patriots players have even stopped to speak with Aborishade to encourage him.

Aborishade, with cleats on hand, will continue to wait until he gets his chance.
