Maher to Sanders: ‘You Are Doing the Patriotic Thing’ By Supporting Hillary

On Friday’s broadcast of HBO’s “Real Time,” host Bill Maher told former Democratic presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) that supporting Democratic presidential nominee former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is “the patriotic thing.”

Maher said, “I must say, unlike some of your supporters, I think that’s why you are a great patriot, because you brought it right back to the central issue, we have to defeat Donald Trump. You are a warrior, sir and the hardest thing for a warrior to do is to fall on his sword, but you did. You have come in line with the idea that we have just two choices. And, I think of Al Gore, after the 2000 election, when the Supreme Court made that decision. Donald Trump…wouldn’t have gone away quietly. Al Gore did the patriotic thing and you are doing the patriotic thing.”
