Thursday in Baltimore at the National Urban League’s annual conference, Democratic vice presidential nominee Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) accused Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump of a history of racism by quoting a case involving his company from 1973.

Kaine said, “Our opponent Donald Trump was taking a different path here is what he was doing around this time, around the the time my father-in-law desegregated Virginia’s schools. And the Urban League was connected with this. In 1973 the New York Times reported the Justice Department had filed suit after Donald Trump and his father were refusing to rent apartments to African Americans. It was one of the largest federal cases of its kind at the time.”
