During an interview with former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm (D) on Wednesday’s broadcast of CNN’s “New Day,” Senior Political Correspondent Brianna Keilar stated that the Clinton campaign is using the controversy over Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s comments about “2nd Amendment people” stopping a Clinton presidency from restricting gun rights to “distract” from “unseemly” new emails regarding the Clinton Foundation.

Keilar said Clinton is using the controversy “to make a point, but she’s also using it, and her campaign is using it, to distract from something else that is going on, and that has to do at least, the latest thing has to do with Clinton, the Clinton foundation, emails between top aides at the Clinton Foundation, a top aide to Hillary Clinton.”

Keilar added of one of the email exchanges, “[I]t’s so unseemly. … This is top aide to Bill Clinton, talking to a top aide — the top aide to Secretary Clinton at the time, about an active US Ambassador.”
