Eric Trump: My Father Didn’t Want to Be ‘Distracted’ By What Paul Manafort Was Dealing With

Friday in an interview with Fox News, Eric Trump, son of GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump, reacted to the resignation of Paul Manafort from the presidential campaign.

The younger Trump said he thought his father did not want to be distracted by Manafort’s issues, but had praise for Manafort’s efforts on the campaign to date.

“I think my father wanted to be distracted by whatever things Paul was dealing with. And Paul was amazing. You know, he helped us get through the primary process. He helped us with the convention. And you know, he did a great job with the delegates and now you look at Kellyanne [Conway] and some other people brought in and their absolutely fantastic and I think they will bring us all the way through November 8 and ultimately the victory. And my father didn’t want to have the distraction looming over the campaign and quite frankly all the distractions that Hillary [Clinton] is having right now.”
