Israeli Official: We Need An America ‘Willing To Assume Leadership In the World, And We Miss You’

On Friday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “America’s Newsroom,” Michael Oren, the Deputy Minister for Diplomacy to Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu stated, “we need a strong America. We need a united America, an America that’s willing to assume leadership in the world, and we miss you.”

Oren said the final meeting between President Obama and Netanyahu went “very well.” And that while the US and Israel have had some differences, “there’s a — an historic alliance between Israel and the United States. We have no alternative to the United States as our greatest ally, and frankly, the United States doesn’t have any other allies in the Middle East like Israel.”

When asked who he would like to see as the US president, Oren responded, “I am not going there, but I’ll tell you what I will say, and I speak for all Israelis, and I think I speak for most of the peoples of the Middle East, that we need a strong America. We need a united America, an America that’s willing to assume leadership in the world, and we miss you.”
