Susan Page: ‘Sadly, the First Amendment Does Not Require Presidents to Have News Conferences’

On Thursday’s broadcast of “CBS This Morning,” USA Today Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page stated, ” Sadly, the First Amendment does not require presidents to have news conferences with reporters.”

Page said, “I think this is a president with his own distinctive way of communicating. And he says he’ll have a news conference next week, we’re looking forward to that, but this is not his format. Sadly, the First Amendment does not require presidents to have news conferences with reporters. That said, he communicates in these 140-character verse.”
