Gutfeld: If Clinton Had Won Thanks to Putin, the Right Would Scream, Media ‘Would Dismiss It’

On Monday’s broadcast of “The Five,” Fox News Channel host Greg Gutfeld reacted to reports that Russia engaged in hacking to aide Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump by saying that if the situation was reversed, “Trump would be screaming, and of course, the media would dismiss it.”

Gutfeld said, “[T]here’s no evidence of coordination.” And “Without that, this is just suspicion. There may be proof they tried to do it, but none that they succeeded.”

He continued, “But let’s be honest. How would we react if the situation were reversed and Hillary had won thanks to Putin? It will be all-out war around here. I ain’t kidding. Trump would be screaming, and of course, the media would dismiss it. That’s the nature of team sport politics, which prevents us from seeing that a foreign power may have subverted our system, and we know that that’s wrong. But maybe we don’t care that it’s wrong because our side won.”

Gutfeld added, “Here’s why you should. What else might the Russians have that they didn’t release? They hacked to get Trump in. What did they hack to control him? But maybe it’s not about control at all, but chaos. If Russia is shown to tamper with our election, and one half of America demands a new election, you get demonstrations and riots and perhaps bloodshed.”

He later stated that Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s refusal to campaign in Wisconsin wasn’t the Russians’ fault, and also mocked President Obama for his prior dismissal of Mitt Romney’s concerns about Russia.

Gutfeld concluded by saying the Russians just ended up showing how bad Clinton was, and that he thinks Russia was more interested in causing discord than helping Trump win.
